Persistent links or Permalinks are links in subscription databases that bring a user back to the same page, often with the search information included. These are especially helpful if you want to save a search or an individual article or post it in an online discussion. If off campus, the link will prompt the user to log-in with their Star ID to access content.
Permalinks are found in different places in different databases. In many databases, the URL at the top of the page is a persistent link. Here are a few examples from the major databases/services.
Permalinks in OneSearch
From search results, look to the right of the title for a chain link icon.
From the item record page, find a permalink below the title in the Send to section.
Permalinks in EBSCO Databases
In the new EBSCO interface (launched December 19, 2024), the URL at the top of the page is a permalink.
Old permalinks should continue to work.
