The Library Chat system is answered by librarians 24/7.  We partner with academic librarians around the United States and England to provide 24/7 coverage, even on holidays. 

Global Chat vs. Krueger Chat.  

You sign-in to the same chat box for both, but depending on the time and day, you may get a Krueger librarian or a global librarian. See the research help hours: Research Help Hours

Most after hours chats (hours outside the Chat with a Krueger Librarian times) are answered by a librarian in Minnesota, usually at Mankato or the U of MN, etc. You are far more likely to have a chat answered by a librarian in England if it is 3:00am. The Global Chat librarians have access to our log-ins and can assist on basic searches and sometimes can help with more advanced questions. We also leave them notes about recent issues with databases or other time sensitive items. If they are unable to thoroughly assist you, they will send a note to the Krueger librarians to follow-up the next working day (usually within a day or two).
