Yes. You can request scans of excerpts or chapters of books from Krueger collections and from other libraries.

Chapter requests are an excellent option for non-circulating materials, such as many reference books. For example, if you need an entry in the DSM 5, most libraries will not send the print book. However, you can request the entry you need, and it can usually be scanned and emailed.

  1. Locate the book in the catalog/OneSearch.
  2. Open the item record (holdings information)
  3. Look under the Find It section for Scan and/or Resource Sharing.
  4. You can use either service to request a scan. The Scan option is a request to scan a material that is at Krueger Library. The Resource Sharing request is from another library.

Item Record Example:

Option 1: Scan

If this option is available, you can request the scan directly from Krueger Library.

Not sure what pages you need? Use the comment section to describe what sections you need. For example, you may request an entry from a reference book.

Option 2: Resource Sharing >  Chapter request

Through Resource Sharing, you can request scans of chapters or portions of books.

From the Resource Sharing Request form, select the button labeled "I only need a specific chapter or pages"

Please note: Krueger Library limits scans to comply with copyright. In most cases, we can send a chapter, but never an entire book. Most libraries have very similar policies to ensure copyright compliance. See the Scan Requests page for details.
